The Battle At Kruger

I realize everyone knows how to use youtube, and this is one of their most popular videos, but still - Its worth watching all the way through. I present to you... nature.

Such an "incredible brawl" - real life is so much better than fiction... man, this owns. "Protecting Your Young" is one of the most honorable causes ever. Especially when your family uses a cool strategy. Yeah! (Courtesy of Mad Man Matt)

Gardens Kick Ass

Man, imagine having ^^this to "tend to" every day of your retirement!? It would be so great. Watching it grow and change would be such a fucken cool thing to do... you wouldn't be able to help but be intensely proud of it. *flexes* yeah! fucken gardens, man.

"Achieving Goals"

Setting targets and then "getting to them" is awesome stuff. I've recently taken to setting useful New Year's Resolutions, and putting a concerted effort into making them happen. Last year it was "lose 10kg" and "never eat fast food".

I got them done, and I haven't looked back. This year its "never drink sugary soda drinks" and so far I've stuck to it. I'm also going to "save $2000"... that one will be a little harder. Next year I'm going to learn to do a "backflip" - cos that's a party trick that would rock the house.

Still - I can't recommend this kind of stuff enough. Achieving goals is great fun. "setting your mind to something" is a really healthy thing to do, I think. I will strive to keep it up.

Coat of Arms

Having your own family "coat of arms" is so damn cool. Having something that somehow represents your family in a symbolic way is awesome -- imagine having a fucking "chimera" on yours? Or a phoenix or something.

I wish mine had a snake fighting a lion, with a badass shield in the middle and cherubs flying around it.

"Deadkid" ©

Hey, so is this a cool idea for a Superhero? "Deadkid"©... obviously the literal meaning "Dead Kid" isn't cool at all, but if he was some sort of supernatural, ghost-boy named DeadKid who ran wild through a western setting... would that be awesome?

I think it would be, so I'm making sure I "barleys-infinity-cross-your-heart-hope-to-die" that idea. I'll make millions.

Mother Nature

Mother Nature... is she cool? I think so. Pretty awesome way of characterizing the ins and outs of natural phenomena.... As a really really big, conscious woman. So cool. I realize people from certain countries are at odds with Ms Nature right now, but still - what a great "job" to have!!

Chaos Emeralds are cool

So yeah, i've already described a couple of times how the Sonic universe has a few "extras" that made me love it as a kid. ^^ This is definitely one of them.

The goal of each stage was to get through to the end of the series of platforms, defeat Robotnik, free the woodland creatures, save the day... right? wrong. Well, not completely wrong - since you could finish the game without acquiring a single Emerald... but anyways, dick with this:

According to official sources, the emeralds can turn thoughts into power (fucking bam!), give energy to all living things, and be used to create nuclear or laser based weaponry. That's pretty cool, right?

In every level there are secret zones, little "minigames" where you can win Chaos Emeralds. In Sonic The Hedgehog 1, the secret zones were anti-gravity themed, and very surreal. In Sonic The Hedgehog 2 (my personal favourite) if you pass through a checkpoint pole while holding 100 rings you would open up a secret level, where you'd run along some awesome 3D tunnels and pickup rings (again) - if you were able to get them all you'd be rewarded by being given a Chaos Emerald. Yeah.

Anyways - Chaos Emeralds are awesome. I want one. (Actually, a friend once bought me a Knuckles action figure AND a little Chaos Emerald once... the emerald doesn't do anything, but i guess i already have one!)

An amazing, poignant ad

This ad for "Google" is one of the most amazing "heartfelt" things I've ever seen. Just watch it and be prepared to (almost) cry.

Different "factions" in a war

How awesome is it, when in fantasy, different "factions" or races come together and unify against a common foe? So awesome.

They would all have different skills and abilities and strengths, and they would all be badass to watch or read about; for example, there would be a tree-dwelling race who might be awesome at long-range combat, then there'd be a beach-dwelling race/faction who would be awesome at maces and morning stars, then there'd be like, a race of lizard dudes who would come out of the sea and wield tridents.

In the "Redwall" series of books, every woodland race was its own faction, and it was awesome. There were the otters, who used javelins, the squirrels, who hid in trees and used bows, and the moles who usually used clubs. The shrews had their own guerilla corps.

The factions would all "unify" together and support each other using their various strengths. There would usually be a hero who would have to help out a particular faction by doing a quest for them before they agree to help out.

Anyway, the point is, specialised races and factions are awesome, especially when they fight together. Yeah!

Wojtek: The greatest animal ever!

Wojtek could be the greatest animal who ever lived, and certainly the greatest bear.

I know this is a big call to make, but wait until you hear his story; Wojtek was a Polish bear, much like the one in the picture. What makes him so different? Wojtek was drafted as a soldier in the Polish Army. Fuck yes!

He was adopted by the Polish army in 1942, and was actually listed among the soldiers of the 22nd Artillery Supply Company of the Polish II Corps. He helped move ammunition during pivotal battles in WWII!

Wikipedia lists some pretty amazing facts about Woytek. For example, he was often rewarded with beer, which was his favourite drink. Fuck yes. Also, the name "Wojtek" or "Wojciech" is derived from two words: "woj" (warrior); and "ciech", enjoyment. Thus the name has two meanings: "he who enjoys war" or "smiling warrior". FUCK YES!

But nothing could beat the title of his Wiki page: "Wojtek (soldier bear)"
